Trump: Reagan was rushed by protester too

After a scare this weekend in which a protester rushed the stage were Donald Trump was standing, the GOP front-runner said Monday that former President Ronald Reagan also went through a similar experience.

Trump posted on his Twitter account a video of Reagan in 1992 being assaulted by a protester while delivering a speech in Las Vegas.

In the video, the man smashed a crystal statue that the former president had just received. While Reagan was hit by some of the shards, he was unhurt. Similar to how Secret Service carried away the Trump protester on Saturday, agents hauled off Reagan’s assailant too.

“He hit me with a fist, but it just bounced off,” Reagan later told the press, the Associated Press reported. The man was identified as 41-year-old Richard Paul Springer, an anti-nuclear activist.
