Oprah’s bra guru debuts with D.C.-area store

It was TV host and fashion expert Carson Kressley who gave Intimacy lingerie stores founder Susan Nethero her nickname — he called her the “bra whisperer” for her uncanny knack of finding what’s best for every woman.

Now Nethero is bringing her brand name to the D.C. area with a new store at Tysons Corner Center.

“The bra is the most technical product you wear, but it’s the most personal product that you buy,” she explained to Yeas & Nays. “If you think about it, it’s one that people are often afraid to ask for guidance and help on.” She explained how women often buy bras that are too small in the cup size and too large around the torso. (Nethero originally learned the trade from Queen Elizabeth II’s bra maker, June Kenton).

And Nethero — who can count Oprah Winfrey as a fan — has already attracted some prominent area clientele, helping former “D.C. Housewife” Mary Amons earlier this week before the Labels for Love fashion show scheduled for Wednesday night.

The new Intimacy store will hold an open house Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
