Jack Abramoff celebrates a homecoming of sorts

As part of Jack Abramoff‘s media blitz (which included 17 television and radios interviews on Tuesday alone) the disgraced former lobbyist also tiptoed back into the D.C. social scene. Abramoff attended a book party Tuesday night thrown in his honor by “The Daily Caller’s” Tucker Carlson.

At the fete, Carlson slammed those Washingtonians who were quick to judge Abramoff. “I raise a middle finger to those people and I raise a glass to Jack Abramoff and I’m proud to do so,” Carlson proclaimed, according to a Yeas & Nays spy who attended the party. Abramoff called Carlson “an incredible friend” and explained why he decided to write his new book, “Capitol Punishment,” and put his name back in the public spotlight. “I am trying to show people that I’m not, I don’t have a tail and horns, I’m not Satan,” he said.

Local media blog FishbowlDC hyped up the party Tuesday by reporting that “Casino Jack” star Kevin Spacey was expected to attend. He did not. (His Twitter clearly states that he’s in Singapore). But that was probably a good thing. Abramoff made a crack about the Abramoff-inspired film, touting that his own 1980s thriller “Red Scorpion” made more money than “Casino Jack.”

“But I should say that ‘Red Scorpion’ doubled the box office of ‘Casino Jack,'” Abramoff boasted.
