Even before Scott Walker’s press conference announcing the status of his campaign, Marco Rubio’s team swooped in to take his supporters.
The Rubio campaign has clinched the endorsement of Walker’s New Hampshire state co-chair Cliff Hurst Rubio’s campaign manager Terry Sullivan said. Sullivan made the announcement during a conversation with reporters organized by National Review at the Google headquarters in Washington, D.C. Monday evening. “There’s a bit of news for ya,” he said.
Multiple media outlets reported that Walker was dropping out. He surged to front-runner status, but began to decline this summer and dropped all the way to 1.8 percent in the RealClearPolitics average of the polls. Rubio is has risen to 7.3 percent.
“We need everyone to fizzle out, and I think they will. No disrespect to anyone else. But were in this for the long-haul,” Sullivan said.”Voters want to elect someone for President that they can drink a beer with, but also someone they believe wont drink too much so they can drive them home. Someone that’s a little more responsible, and you feel has a commanding control of the situation, but you can identify with them. And that’s where Marco’s at.”
