North Korea readies nukes for ‘moment’s notice’

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has instructed that the country’s nuclear weapons be made ready to use at a moment’s notice, according to a report by the state’s news agency.

Korean Central New Agency confirmed Thursday night that North Korea will have its military prepared to carry out precautionary attacks.

The country has tested four nuclear weapons recently, in addition to Thursday’s firing of six short-range projectiles into the sea.

Although North Korea has habitually tested missiles and rockets, it often does so in response to being internationally reprehended. Thursday’s action came hours after the United Nations Security Council approved sanctions against the communist nation for its nuclear activity.

The sanctions put on North Korea will mandate inspections of cargo leaving and entering the country by land, sea or air; a ban on weapons sales or transfers; and other activities.
