Todd Akin, everyone’s favorite punching bag since his unfortunate comments on rape and pregnancy in August, made another lady-related boo boo this week. His female-centric campaign website, Akin.org/women, featured a photo of three women next to Akin with the headline “I’m a women [sic] and I support Todd.”
In addition to being grammatically incorrect, the statement was flat-out wrong. One of the women in the photo was Corinne Matti, an operative for the Missouri Democratic Party. Her job as a “tracker” for the party requires Matti to attend Akin events and report back to the party, which the Akin camp was apparently aware of.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the Akin campaign has disabled the site. Akin spokesperson Ryan Hite told the paper that the page was “simply a draft version that was not approved for public release.”
