Billionaire businessman Donald Trump has zero tolerance for those who attempt to embarrass him and is prepared to retaliate when they do.
Hours after Fox News host Megyn Kelly questioned his treatment of women during Thursday’s Republican primary debate, the GOP hopeful endorsed a tweet calling Kelly a “bimbo” and questioned her professionalism. Now he plans to investigate the veteran journalist’s claims.
“I’m not sure of some of the statements she made about the women,” Trump told “Good Morning America” host George Stephanopoulos on Friday.
The New York-based real estate mogul went on to accuse Kelly of coming up with words he didn’t recognize during the brief phone interview with Stephanopoulos.
“We’re going to look at that very carefully but I don’t recognize those words,” he said. “So we’ll see what happens. We’re going to take a very serious look at it.”
During Thursday’s debate, Kelly, who was one of three Fox News personalities co-hosting the event, rattled off a list of words and phrases that Trump allegedly used to describe women over the years, including “dog,” “slobs” and “disgusting animal.” She then asked Trump how he would respond to the presumed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s charge when she accuses of him of partaking in the “war on women.”
“The questions asked of me were much much more difficult and poignant and really unfair than what other people were asked,” Trump told Stephanopoulos. “But when you’re number one in the polls, I guess that’s what happens.”
Trump tweeted and retweeted a series of disparaging remarks directed at Kelly and her Fox News colleagues in the early hours of Friday morning, as previously reported by the Washington Examiner. He described her as “overrated and angry” and said it was “funny to watch” people react negatively to her on the social networking platform.
Wow, @megynkelly really bombed tonight. People are going wild on twitter! Funny to watch.

Nevertheless, the former reality TV host said he “had a great time” and enjoyed meeting a number of his GOP rivals for the first time.
“It was an amazing weekend and I think I did very well,” he said. “Drudge has me at number one, Time has me at number one, and the New York Times has me at number one.”
A live poll by the Drudge Report currently shows Trump as the ‘winner” of Thursday’s debate by a 45 percent margin. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio follows with roughly 10 percent and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson is currently in third place with 8.7 percent.
