Would Hillary Clinton be able to win in 2016 if she were a Republican? Dick Cheney sure doesn’t think so.
During an interview Wednesday, the former vice president said that the email scandal would derail Clinton’s presidential campaign if she were a Republican.
“Can someone like that be elected president?” NewsmaxTV host Steve Malzberg asked Cheney, pointing to the email server situation. “Could a Republican who had done that be elected president?”
“I doubt that they would be allowed,” Cheney said. “This is a really serious proposition because in those senior positions in the government such as vice president, secretary of state, secretary of defense, they deal all the time with highly, highly classified information. ”
“And the notion that somehow you’ve got a server out there someplace that’s not even a secure environment, then the possibility of shipping classified material in the form of emails is very, very serious,” Cheney continued. “In the government, we take that kind of problem very, very seriously, and she should too.”
Cheney’s latest claim come on the heels of his Monday comments, in which he said it was “hard to believe” that Clinton’s server wasn’t compromised by foreign intelligence. He also called Clinton’s actions regarding her emails “sloppy and unprofessional.”
