Just because President Obama has expressed his support for gay marriage doesn’t mean he’s getting a seat at Barney Frank’s upcoming same-sex nuptials.
The retiring congressman told Rachel Maddow on Wednesday night that he wants “the wedding to be celebratory, not militarized.”
“The Secret Service does a great job of protecting him, but while they are protecting the president, they pretty much disrupt everybody’s lives around them,” Frank said. “I don’t want my guests to have to go through the metal detector.”
Frank added that he does “deeply respect” Obama. He plans to wed in July.
