Poll: Trump holds double-digit lead in Pennsylvania

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump holds a substantial lead in Pennsylvania less than two weeks until the state’s primary, according to a new poll.

In the latest Monmouth poll, Trump leads the GOP field in the Keystone State with 44 percent support and by a 16-point margin over Sen. Ted Cruz, who sits in second with 28 percent backing. Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who is looking to make a play in Pennsylvania, falls to third with 23 percent.

The winner of the state will take home only 17 of the 71 overall delegates, with the remaining 54 being voted on as part of the April 26 elections, with three delegates coming out of each congressional district

Overall, Trump holds a strong lead among Pennsylvania Republicans. He leads with 42.8 percent support and holds a 15.8 point lead over Cruz’s 27 percent, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average. The billionaire also held his first event in Pennsylvania on Thursday with a rally in downtown Pittsburgh.

Pennsylvania is one of five states set to vote and hand out delegates on April 26, along with Maryland, Delaware, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
