Who is a bigger threat to the U.S. — President Obama, Russian President Vladimir Putin or Syrian President Bashar Assad?

According to 34 percent of Republicans, Obama poses the most imminent threat to the U.S., ahead of Putin (25 percent) and Assad (23 percent), a Reuters/Ipsos poll revealed.

Overall, terror was the most concerning threat for both political parties. Fifty-eight percent of respondents — which included 1,059 Republicans and 1,083 Democrats — rated the Islamic State as an imminent threat, while 43 percent were concerned with al Qaeda. North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un was viewed as a threat by 34 percent and Iran’s leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei by 27 percent.

Thirty-nine precent viewed cyberattacks as an imminent threat, while drug trafficking was seen as a threat by roughly 33 percent.

Looking down party lines, 27 percent of Republicans saw the Democratic Party as an imminent threat compared to 22 percent of Democrats who viewed the GOP this way.

The online poll of roughly 2,800 Americans was conducted between March 16-24 with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.1 percentage points.
