Former Redskin gets Lone Sailor Award

The Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys set aside their rivalry Sunday night for a special celebration for NFL veteran Eddie LeBaron.

LeBaron, who was quarterback for both teams, was honored with the 2010 Lone Sailor Award during a halftime ceremony. A source tells Yeas & Nays the two-time Purple Heart recipient came to town early to receive the prestigious award, which was presented to him by former Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. P.X. Kelley at FedEx Field.

LeBaron was part of the Sea Services in the Marine Corps and also is a Bronze Star recipient. Actor and comedian Bill Cosby and Lanier Phillips, a survivor of the 1942 shipwreck of the destroyer USS Truxton, will be honored at the Lone Sailor awards dinner Wednesday. The award is given to Sea Service veterans who excelled in their civilian careers while serving the military.
