Carly Fiorina defended fellow Republican candidate Ben Carson from criticism about his biography Saturday, one day after Politico ran a story questioning the veracity of his claims about receiving a scholarship from West Point.
“I know Ben Carson. He’s a good man,” Fiorina said during an interview for Sunday’s episode of “Meet the Press.”
Fiorina said she did not think voters cared about whether Carson exaggerated details of his personal story.
“I’m out here on the trail all day long, and I just don’t get asked questions about, you know, hammers and stabbings and West Point and Westmoreland,” said the former Hewlett-Packard CEO, who ranks sixth in the Washington Examiner‘s power rankings.
“I get asked questions about what do we do now that we think [the Islamic State] shot a plane out of the sky, or exploded a plane, and what do we do to put people back to work,” Fiorina added. “So I think voters are focused on the issues that matter to them.”
