Bumblebee may have lost a bit of its buzz, but the production surrounding “Transformers 3” certainly hasn’t.
Despite a little setback during filming on the D.C. streets set of “Transformers 3” on Monday afternoon, which involved the bright yellow Camaro named Bumblebee plowing into a police SUV, it is full speed ahead for production crews on the film.
While Monday’s crash is still under investigation, the Metropolitan Police Department decided (after reviewing safety procedures) that the filming of “Transformers 3” will continue Tuesday evening with “enhanced safety measures.”
Monday’s accident isn’t the first to occur on a set of this film. During the filming of a stunt sequence in Illinois, an extra was hit in the head by a piece of flying metal. She suffered brain damage and is now suing.
And the hits, well, they just keep on coming, because production is costing a bundle.
Josh Friedman, spokesman for the D.C. Office of Motion Picture and Development, told Yeas & Nays, “It is not uncommon for a film of this size to spend at least $500,000 a day filming on location.”
Crews are set to film through Friday. Clear the set!
