Scott Walker wants to ‘wreak havoc’ on Washington

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker will launch an all-out assault against politics-as-usual in Washington, D.C., during a trip to President Ronald Reagan’s alma mater, Eureka College, in Illinois on Thursday.

“President Reagan once said that we needed to drain the swamp in Washington, D.C. Since he left, the swamp has filled up again,” Walker will say according to his team. “We cannot expect those from Washington to fix Washington. Some people think you can fix Washington by putting new so-called experts in the same old places.”

The governor will also release a new “Day One” promise “each week moving forward” that will describe what he would do immediately after entering the White House in January 2017, according to a statement shared by Walker’s camp.

“Gov. Scott Walker made a name for himself for wreaking havoc on the status quo in Madison and producing results for Wisconsinites, and he has a plan to do so in Washington,” says a statement from Walker’s team. “He wants to wreak havoc on the status quo not just for the sake of wreaking havoc – there’s already enough unproductive noise in Washington – but for the sake of actually winning on behalf of taxpayers, as he did in Wisconsin.”

The list of “Day One promises” Walker will pledge to accomplish includes sending legislation to Congress to repeal and replace Obamacare, ending the president’s executive actions on immigration and enforcing federal immigration law, and terminating the Obama administration’s deal with Iran.

After departing the former president’s alma mater this week, Walker will head toward the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, home of the second GOP presidential debate next Wednesday, Sept. 16. The governor plans to release another “Day One promise” between now and the time of the debate.
