Comerford shows off favorite FLOTUS recipes

White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford joined Matt Lauer on the Today show Friday to demonstrate some of the White House Kitchen Garden-inspired recipes created by Better Homes and Gardens magazine for first lady Michelle Obama‘s new cover feature in the August issue, which is on newsstands right now. The feature includes a nine-page spread of photos of the picnic Mrs. Obama and BHG hosted in May for fifth graders from DC’s Tubman Elementary School — who she says are her toughest critics — as well as an interview with the first lady.

For Friday’s show, Comerford demonstrated how to make a chopped green salad with edamame and grapes, fresh herb dressing made with orange juice, and fruit pocket pies made with fresh berries and apple jam.
