Jonas Brothers: baseball pros by day, musicians by night

They’re clearly are passionate about their music — selling out concerts, topping the charts and bringing in bank at the box office. But after catching the Jonas Brothers Monday at a softball game in Virginia, it’s clear they have another intense passion — baseball.

To let loose while on the road, the brothers formed the team “Road Dogs,” which takes on locals at various stops along the nationwide tour. Monday marked a stop in Dulles where the boys took on the AOL Allstars — the event host and partners with Marquis Jets that fly the boys — to benefit their charity, Change for the Children. It soon became clear to the hundreds in attendance they are anything but lax about the competition.

The threesome ran down fly balls, screamed for their teammates and Nick and Joe even

slid into home base in the fifth inning (a call that led one AOLer claim in jes(t the umpire must be getting backstage passes) to help their team ultimately win 15-13.

But following the game was when their love of the sport (Nick Jonas rented out Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles for his 16th birthday) was crystallized.

“This is no small thing for us,” Joe Jonas told Yeas & Nays following their win, right after another teammate asked them if anyone had Twittered their win yet.

“We actually have trouble sleeping the night before a game,” Kevin chimed in about the charity series that totals 11 games.

All we can say is their fans are lucky they won — one “Road Dog” whispered to us that no one talks to each other after a loss.

“Tonight will be a lot of fun. We’ll celebrate with our fans,” Joe assured us, happy for the win, and no doubt, happy they raised $2,900 for their charity.

UPDATE: Michelle Obama took Sasha and Malia to Monday night’s show at Verizon Center. The first family occupied one of the suites facing the stage. Sasha and Malia sat in the front row of the suite with a half dozen or so of their friends, with Malia in particular rocking out and dancing to her favorite JB songs. A few of the tweens in attendance even managed to get a photo or two of the girls when Secret Service wasn’t shooing them away. The first lady mostly hung out near the back of the suite with the other adults.
