Bernie Sanders power lunches at Perkins on caucus day

DES MOINES — Hours ahead of Monday night’s caucuses, Sen. Bernie Sanders was spotted lunching at Perkins, the casual restaurant chain and bakery, located near the airport.

Sanders came with a party of eight, and he took advantage of the all day breakfast by ordering french toast, a Perkins employee confirmed to the Washington Examiner.

The Democratic presidential candidate, who is locked in a tight race with former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, was greeted by a few well wishers and posed for some photos, but mainly kept to his table.

Luckily for him, Monday was free pie day at Perkins for anybody who has a meal. The Sanders party got their pie to go.
