AP calls Iowa for Clinton

The Associated Press called the Iowa caucuses for Hillary Clinton shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday, after an extremely close race that put Clinton ahead by less than a third of one percent of the vote.

With 100 percent of the votes reported, Clinton won 49.86 percent of the vote, and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., won 49.57 percent.

Former Gov. Martin O’Malley won the rest of it, but promptly dropped out of the race after voters made clear their preference for either Clinton or Sanders.

Sanders has said he sees the Iowa vote as a “virtual tie,” and has vowed to win in New Hampshire next week.
