Leavell and politicos sitting in a tree

What do a Rolling Stone and politicians have in common? Apparently a love of trees.

Rolling Stones keyboardist Chuck Leavell joined The Second Amendments, a band made up of Reps. Thad McCotter, R-Mich., Kenny Hulshof, R-Mo., Collin Peterson, D-Minn., and Dave Weldon, R-Fla., on stage at the Washington Plaza Hotel for a celebration of the International Year of Forests on Wednesday night.

The band may have been sending a subliminal message by playing “You’ve Got to Change Your Evil Ways” before Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack got behind the podium to speak about the good of wood.

After the secretary’s address, Leavell, a certified tree farmer, chatted with Vilsack offstage, saying he was a big fan of his work. Leavell gave the secretary a signed copy of his latest book “Growing A Better America” and said he looked forward to more progress this year.
