Watch: Hillary laughs off email scandal in Iowa

Hillary Clinton on Wednesday literally laughed off the ongoing email scandal engulfing her campaign at an event accepting the endorsement of Secretary of Agriculture and former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack.

Vilsack hailed Clinton’s toughness and ability to weather “trumped up charges,” eliciting raucous laughter from the former secretary of state.

“You don’t have to wonder, you don’t have to ask yourself, you don’t have to worry about whether she’s tough enough to handle trumped up charges,” Vilsack said to Clinton’s delight.

Clinton has tried at various times to joke her way out of the issue. Earlier this month, Clinton chucked and remarked at a campaign event that she loved the smartphone app Snapchat because “those messages disappear all by themselves.”

And in response to a question from Fox News about whether she wiped her private email server before giving it to the FBI, Clinton shot back, “like with a cloth or something?”

While the issue is a laughing matter for Clinton in public, it is apparently not for the majority of the American people, who now consistently respond to poll questions indicating they don’t trust the former first lady.

Vilsack was a candidate himself for president in 2008, before quickly dropping out of the race. He endorsed Clinton in that race as well, but still wound up with a lengthy and ongoing tenure in President Obama’s cabinet.
