Former president Bill Clinton got into it Friday with hecklers who accused Hillary Clinton of lying about the Benghazi terrorist attacks.
A man, who said identified himself as a former Marine who served two tours in Iraq, asked Clinton a question about problems at Veterans Affairs and then pivoted to an accusation about the Benghazi attacks. Clinton was speaking at a town hall Friday in Bluffton, S.C.,
“We had four lives in Benghazi that were killed and your wife tried to cover it up,” according to a video of the event.
The exchange quickly devolved from there as the crowd responded to the comments and Clinton tried to answer the man’s question.
“I am not your commander in chief anymore but if I were I would tell you to be more polite,” Clinton said.
“I wouldn’t listen,” the man angrily responded as security guards escorted him out of the event.
Clinton responded that if the man would “shut up” he would answer the question.
“That is what is wrong, his mind has been poisoned by lies and he won’t listen,” the former president said.
A woman who was filming the exchange then took over and said that the former secretary of state “lied over four coffins.” She asked if his wife had lied.
Clinton responded simply. “No,” he said.
The woman was also escorted out of the event.
