Trump ready to spend all his annual income on White House run

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Tuesday night that he’s willing to spend millions of dollars of his own money to win the White House, with one caveat.

In an interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity, Trump, who is leading the Republican field in national polls, said if he’s doing well, he’ll stay in the race regardless of what it might cost him.

“Sure,” Trump said, when asked if he’s willing to spend nearly $400 million of his own money on his bid for the presidency. “Well, you saw my income. My income is $400 million dollars a year. Sure, I would spend it if i’m doing well.”

Trump said if he were in a lesser position, he would reconsider. “If I was in a position like, let’s say — well I don’t want to use names because I don’t want to embarrass anybody.”

Trump went on to note that GOP candidates Rick Perry and Lindsey Graham have attacked him and then saw their poll numbers decline as a result.

The interview started with Hannity addressing Trump’s dustup with Fox News, which resulted from questioning Trump received from Fox anchor Megyn Kelly during the debate last week.

“Well, I have a great relationship with [Fox CEO] Roger Ailes and actually, I didn’t understand what went wrong because I was not treated fairly and Roger called me the other day and it’s absolutely fine.”

Trump addressed the controversy between him and Kelly, who had questioned Trump on past derogatory statements he made about women.

“I cherish women,” he said. “I think I’ll do more for women than [Democratic presidential candidate] Hillary [Clinton] can ever do.”

Trump said that during the debate he gained respect for some of the other GOP candidates, but declined to name them.

“The ones that I most respect in certain cases, they have a little bit of a chance,” he said. “I don’t think a great chance because their poll numbers aren’t so great right now. But I do respect numerous of the candidates and actually some I’ve gotten to know and I like them and I respect them.”
