A Democratic senator on Monday called for the disbanding of the House Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives on Monday following a shooting at a Planned Parenthood facility in Colorado Springs, Colo. last week.
Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., urged Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., to immediately break up the House Energy and Commerce panel, according to the letter.
“It is time to stop the witch hunt against Planned Parenthood, stop the demonizing rhetoric and disband this committee immediately,” wrote Boxer.

Boxer said the government-subsidized nonprofit health organization was previously investigated in three House committee investigations that concluded no findings of wrongdoing by the group and recommended the House GOP use existing committees to debate Planned Parenthood’s practices.
“We should not and cannot continue this politically-motivated committee targeting Planned Parenthood, which is already costing taxpayers and helping to create a dangerous climate for legal health care in America,” Boxer added.
