Boehner cancels ‘Tonight Show’ appearance

Outgoing House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, on Thursday abruptly canceled his scheduled appearance on the “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” Thursday.

The cancellation comes after the shock withdrawal by House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy from the race to succeed Boehner, as well as a postponement of the Republican leadership races.

Boehner’s appearance was announced by NBC yesterday, only to have the speaker pull out this morning, Deadline Hollywood reported.

With the vote postponement, and the collapse of McCarthy’s front-runner campaign, Boehner may have to stay on as speaker longer that he expected or preferred.
