Dems tie Trump to ‘The Godfather’

A new ad released online by the Democratic National Committee casts Donald Trump as “The Godfather.”

The DNC put the one-minute ad on YouTube Tuesday and it portrays Trump as the mafia crime boss as popularized by the late Marlon Brandon in 1972’s “The Godfather.”

With the movie’s iconic theme song playing in the background, the ad uses clips from Trump’s rallies and news interviews where his rivals for the Republican presidential nomination are paying him compliment.

“I have a good life, I have a great family and I built a great business,” Trump says in the ad as text on the screen says, “There is one man at the head of the GOP.”

It also includes clips of Trump disparaging the protesters that have showed up at his combustible campaign rallies. “Maybe he should have been roughed up,” Trump is heard saying.

The ad concludes with an image of Trump meant to look like Brando in “The Godfather” and overlaid text that says “The GOPfather: a candidate they can’t refuse.”
