The family of Michael Brown is filling a civil suit against the City of Ferguson for wrongful death.
Brown was 18-years old when he was shot and killed by former officer Darren Wilson last August in Ferguson, Mo. Local and nationwide protests erupted over the killing of an unarmed black man by a white officer, and the shooting touched off wide movement against police brutality and racial profiling.
A grand jury chose not to indict Wilson in Brown’s death in November. A Justice Department investigation also cleared Wilson of any wrongdoing in March. However, the report exposed widespread racism in the Ferguson Police Department.
Now, members of Brown’s family have filed a civil suit — something that has been expected for months.
They are set to formally announced the suit Thursday at 10:30 a.m. EST in front of the St. Louis County Courthouse.
