Hawaiian lawmakers want to get the “birther” movement off their backs.
State lawmakers passed a measure Tuesday to limit repeated requests for copies of President Obama’s birth certificate. The bill now goes to Gov. Linda Lingle (a Republican, incidentally) to be signed into law.
The measure would allow officials to ignore duplicate requests for public records, including proof that Obama was born in the United States. Hawaii’s government receives 10 to 20 requests a week for Obama’s birth certificate.
