Christie: Clinton has ‘so much to answer for’ in Libya

Gov. Chris Christie blasted Hillary Clinton Thursday during the GOP debate for her role in destabilizing Libya and allowing it to become a haven for the Islamic State.

“This is another one of those places where Hillary Clinton has so much to answer for and why she is completely unqualified to be commander in chief,” Christie said.

The New Jersey governor cited a previous Democratic primary debate in which Clinton was asked about her share of responsibility in causing the turmoil that presently plagues Libya.

“Three times, she refused to answer the question, because she refuses to be held accountable for anything that goes wrong,” Christie noted. “If it had gone right, believe me, she would be running around trying to take credit for it.”

As secretary of state, Clinton was a fierce advocate for U.S. military involvement in an international effort to remove Muammar Gadhafi, Libya’s longtime dictator, from power. The move left a vacuum that has since allowed extremist groups to take refuge in the failed state.

Christie said he would convene a coalition of European countries and America’s Sunni Arab allies to take out the Islamic State in Libya and across the Middle East.

Christie is currently sixth in the Washington Examiner‘s presidential power rankings.
