‘Atlas Shrugged’ producers talk musical, D.C. premiere

The producers for the forthcoming flick “Atlas Shrugged: Part 1” have some big ideas.

First off, they still haven’t taken one head-turning thought off the table: turning part three into a musical. “Victor Hugo was one of Ayn Rand‘s favorite authors,” explained producer John Aglialoro, pointing to the Broadway hit “Les Miserables” as an example. Aglialoro said one reason why a musical might work best is because he doesn’t know how else to end the planned trilogy.

“The ending is tough, so we may need to take a look, if not a musical, but maybe,” he said.

Aglialoro and his partner producer Harmon Kaslow also talked about their big premiere idea in front of a group gathered at the Americans for Tax Reform headquarters Wednesday afternoon. “We decided April 12 we are going to have a premiere, a Hollywood premiere in D.C., and it will be at the Union Station,” Aglialoro said. “A lot of the shooting was at Union Station in L.A,” he pointed out. He hopes to recruit Fox News personalities to attend and cover the event, ticking off the names of John Stossel, Judge Napolitano, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity. “It would be a mini Academy Awards kind of program,” he added.

“Atlas Shrugged: Part 1” the movie opens in theaters across the country on tax day, April 15. It will be playing locally at the E Street Cinema.
