Chris Christie’s family ‘completely supportive’ of presidential run

To hear New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie tell it, the only thing preventing him from running for president is himself. Christie told reporters in New Hampshire that his family has told him it would be “completely supportive” if he decides to run for president, according to the Associated Press.

“You have to decide, is this what you want to do with the next 10 years of your life?” Christie said. “And so no one should make that decision lightly. And I’m on my own time schedule to make that decision. … But the time will end this month and I’ll make a decision.”

Even with his family’s support, several external factors could impact Christie’s decision, including allegations that Christie violated federal law as a U.S. attorney. Christie’s comments to reporters indicated that he was not worried about fighting his enemies, ruffling feathers, or separating himself from the other candidates.

“I’m probably the best-known Republican candidate in America,” Christie said. “And every once in awhile, I say things that make people angry. That’s the way it goes.”

He has traveled to several of the states that hold early nominating contests for the GOP, including New Hampshire where Christie spoke at a “Politics & Eggs” event on Tuesday. On Wednesday, he will speak to a group of Hispanic businessmen at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C.
