Sebelius nuts about pesto

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius was caught off-guard by a gourmet question while at Holmes Elementary School in Dorchester, MA, to promote a school health initiative called “Step It Up.” She was there with Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and Mayor Thomas M. Menino to congratulate the students for collectively taking 50 million steps in their pilot program to reduce childhood obesity, but at one point the conversation turned to food – and this time it wasn’t about pizza or french fries. While telling the kids that the government no longer treats ketchup as a bona fide vegetable, one fourth grader asked, what about pesto? “Pesto?” the secretary mused. “Pesto’s great. Pine nuts. Olive oil. Basil. It’s very healthy. Pesto — go for it.”
