With their terms ending, four soon-to-be-former members of the D.C. Council now find themselves looking to the next step in their careers.
Outgoing Council Chairwoman Linda Cropp, 59, would not say earlier this week what her plans for the future are, saying only that she will discuss details sometime after Mayor-elect Adrian Fenty’s inauguration next week.
Cropp, who served nine years as Council Chairwoman, has been in District government for 26 years, including 10 years on the Board of Education. She lost her September primary bid for the mayor’s race to Fenty.
Former journalist Kathy Patterson, the outgoing Ward 3 Democratic councilwoman, has said she’s not sure what’s next.
“I don’t know. I don’t know,” Patterson said just before the council’s last legislative meeting Dec. 19.
Outgoing Ward 5 Democrat Vincent Orange, who served one term before announcing his bid for mayor, did not return a phone call Friday. He has worked as a lawyer and an accountant.
Sharon Ambrose’s Ward 6 Council office has closed. Ambrose has been ill and is retiring from the seat she has held since 1997.
