With health care reform waging through Congress and a nation with two-thirds of its population overweight, it only makes sense for the feds to step up their game — literally.
“We want the federal government to be a role model for the rest of the country,” said John Berry, director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
At a Feds Get Fit rally on the National Mall on Tuesday, Berry challenged federal employees to “walk around the world.” The first federal agency to collectively strike 24,000 steps will be deemed the fittest.
Fedsgetfit.gov also offers the Pro Challenge, which encourages feds to outstep former New England Patriots player Darryl Haley or Washington Redskins player Lorenzo Alexander.
As for your chances of beating Alexander, he told Yeas & Nays, “If I’m pretty sore, someone might have an outside chance, but if it were the off-season, I’d win.”
