Ben Carson said that he has a “tendency to be relaxed” but “wasn’t always like that,” responding to criticism from Donald Trump that he is “super low energy” on “Meet the Press” Sunday.
“You know, everybody has their own personality. And if he’d like to do that, that’s fine. That’s not who I am,” Carson, who is second in the Washington Examiner‘s presidential power rankings, said to host Chuck Todd. “And I don’t get into the mud pit.”
“I have plenty of energy. But, you know, I am soft-spoken. I do have a tendency to be relaxed. I wasn’t always like that,” Carson continued. “As a teenager. I would go after people with rocks, and bricks, and baseball bats, and hammers. … Fortunately, you know, my life has been changed.”
Carson has recently toppled Ben Carson in the polls in Iowa, and Trump has a responded with mixture of saying he will “have to work a little bit harder” to attacking Carson’s stamina and energy.
“”We have a breaking story,” Trump said yesterday, impersonating a news anchor. “Donald Trump has fallen to second place behind Ben Carson. We informed Ben, but he was sleeping.”
