GOP Sen. Susan Collins wins fourth term in Maine

Sen. Susan Collins, a Maine Republican, won a fourth term Tuesday by defeating Democrat Shenna Bellows, a former executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union.

Collins, a centrist who is well-liked on both sides of the aisle, was heavily favored to keep the seat she’s held since 1996.

Collins sits on the powerful Appropriations Committee, where she is currently the top Republican on the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Subcommittee.
