Not fur!: First lady never gave OK to PETA ad

Michelle Obama may not be a fan of the fur, but she didn’t give People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals the right to flaunt it in the group’s D.C. ad campaign.

The White House told Yeas & Nays it has contacted PETA for using the first lady’s image without her permission.

“We haven’t asked the White House to fund or promote the campaign, as they can’t do such things, but the fact is that Michelle Obama has issued a statement indicating that she doesn’t wear fur, and the world should know that in PETA’s eyes, that makes her pretty fabulous,” the organization said in a statement.

The advertisement, spotted in D.C.’s Metrorail stations, features Michelle Obama alongside the openly anti-fur Oprah Winfrey, Tyra Banks and Carrie Underwood.
