With midterm elections less than five weeks away, congressional approval is in the single digits.
Just seven percent of likely voters approve of the way Congress is handling its job, according to a new Associated Press-GfK poll.
However, few see that making a difference in the midterm elections: 52 percent expect the Democratic Party to keep control of the Senate, with 68 percent saying Republicans will keep the House.
Neither party holds a clear advantage in the upcoming election, though.
Forty-five percent of voters prefer Republicans to win control of Congress, while 42 percent prefer Democrats.
But 96 percent are dissatisfied or angry with the leadership of one side or the other.
The AP-GfK Poll was conducted Sept. 25-29, using KnowledgePanel, GfK’s probability-based panel designed to be representative of the country’s population.
Among 958 likely voters, the margin of sampling error is plus or minus 3.5 points.
