Republican senators renewed their objections to the Obama administration’s policies toward Iran Friday, calling for a “clear roadmap” for which actions Iran would be punished for.
The GOP remains upset that Iran has not been sanctioned for its recent ballistic missile tests.
“We request that you provide a roadmap of what you consider to be illicit behavior from Iran, and what sanctions or punitive steps will be taken in the event of such behavior,” reads a letter to President Obama signed by 13 Republican senators, including Sens. David Perdue, R-Ga., and Ted Cruz, R-Texas.
“The ballistic tests come in the wake of mounting Iranian aggression, both domestically and in the region. Since the signing of the [Iran nuclear deal] in July, Iran has fired rockets near U.S. warships,” the letter continues.
The senators’ letter comes during the furor over the 10 U.S. sailors temporarily held by Iran this week and the ongoing GOP opposition to the Iranian nuclear deal.
