Hillary Clinton had her own computer system for email correspondence when she was Secretary of State, registered to the fictional Eric Hoteham.
The computer server used by Clinton transmitted and received all of her emails during her time at the State Department, according to Internet records reviewed by Associated Press.
The server, registered to the Clinton family home in Chappaqua, N.Y., controlled her reported [email protected] account under the pseudonym Eric Hoteham.
Running her own server meant Clinton gained more legal opportunities to block government or private subpoenas seeking any emails detailing her work as secretary of state. Because the emails she sent and received during her time with the government were under a personal account, they are also not subject to the U.S. Freedom of Information Act — like all other official government correspondence.
The New York Times revealed Monday that Clinton never had an official government email address during her time as secretary, using only a personal email address for her work as executive of the Department of State.
