CNN poll: Trump bigger than Cruz, Rubio, Carson combined

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump continues to hold a substantial pre-Christmas lead over the GOP field, and has more support than the next three candidates combined, according to a new poll released Wednesday.

The CNN poll says Trump rakes in 39 percent support, which tops the combined support of Sen. Ted Cruz (18 percent), Sen. Marco Rubio (10 percent) and Ben Carson (10 percent), who win 38 percent overall.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie rounds out the top five with 5 percent, while no other candidate breaks the 5 percent mark, including former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who sits at 3 percent.

Trump’s support went up 3 percentage points over the last three weeks since CNN’s previous poll, while Carson and Rubio saw a drop in their support from 14 and 12 percent, respectively.

The real estate mogul’s support matches up perfectly with his favorable/unfavorable numbers, which sit at 39/57, while one percent of respondents hadn’t heard enough about Trump yet.
