Celebrity Gulf oil spill expert Kevin Costner will return to Capitol Hill Wednesday to discuss lessons learned from the BP disaster.Costner will testify before the House of Representative’s Committee on Homeland Security as part of a hearing to evaluate the Department of Homeland Security’s response to the environmental crisis.
Costner became a Washington regular back in June when he testified before Congress on multiple occasions about a technology he invested in, what we at Yeas & Nays call the “oil-water-separator-thingamajig.”
This time around, Costner no doubt will discuss the $895 million Gulf oil spill disaster plan he has touted in recent weeks. It incorporates his oil- separating machines along with specialized boats for oil collection and also eliminates the use of dispersant chemicals and the practice of burning oil on the ocean’s surface. So far he has met with Michael Bromwich, director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement, along with Gulf Coast governors and members of Congress, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
The hearing will take place at 10 a.m. in the Cannon House Office Building.
