Palin cancels appearance for Trump after husband’s injury

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin canceled an appearance on behalf of 2016 hopeful Donald Trump on Monday after her husband, Todd Palin, was injured in a snowmobile accident Sunday night.

Trump’s campaign announced the cancellation just minutes before Palin was set to appear at noon in The Villages, Fla. Soon after, the campaign released another statement confirming the accident.

“Todd Palin was in a bad snow machine accident last night and is currently hospitalized,” Trump’s campaign said. “Governor Palin is returning to Alaska to be with her husband and looks forward to being back on the campaign trail soon. Mr. Trump’s thoughts and prayers are with the Palin family at this time.”

NBC reported that Todd Palin was in a “very serious” crash and is hospitalized in intensive care.”

Palin, who endorsed the Republican front-runner in mid-January, spent Sunday campaigning for Trump at the All Florida Championship Rodeo in Arcadia and was set to speak at noon Monday in The Villages.

“Gov. Palin wishes her best to Mr. Trump in the upcoming primaries,” the Trump campaign said in its first statement.

Trump himself is slated to hold a rally at 2:00 p.m. in Tampa, Fla., on Monday. The businessman cancelled a rally in Chicago last Friday due to massive protests and has attracted a steady stream of criticism from those who claim his rhetoric is inciting violence.
