Romney questions Giuliani’s baseball loyalties

Mitt Romney poked fun at rival Rudy Giuliani on Thursday for backing the Boston Red Sox in the World Series after a lifetime of devotion to the New York Yankees.

“You’re one or the other — you’re not both,” Romney told an audience at a hospital. “He’s been rooting for the Red Sox now and rooting for the Yankees.

“I wish he had been rooting for the line-item veto,” the Republican presidential hopeful added, referring to Giuliani getting President Clinton’s line-item veto overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court. “We’d have saved America trillions of dollars.”

Giuliani spokeswoman Maria Comella retorted: “The line-item veto line by now is no longer news.”
