Sunlight Foundation doles out ‘Influence Oscars’

Forget the real winners from last night’s Academy Awards, the D.C.-based Sunlight Foundation tallied up the biggest Oscar-nominated political givers. Not surprisingly, Hollywood’s hottest give their money to Democratic candidates. Surprisingly, “War Horse” would win Best Picture in these “Influence Oscars.” Here are Hollywood’s top Oscar-nominated political donors:

$1.6 million — How much Best Picture nominee “War Horse”‘s producer Steven Spielberg has given to a variety of state and federal candidates and committees since 1990, including the Democratic National Committee and President Obama.

$369,000 — How much Best Picture nominee “War Horse”‘s producer Kathleen Kennedy has donated to Democratic candidates and Democratic-leaning groups over the years including Obama, the DNC and Planned Parenthood.

$178,000 — How much “The Descendants”‘ George Clooney has given to Democratic candidates including Obama, Sen. Al Franken and father, Nick Clooney, for his 2004 congressional run.

$47,900 — How much “Albert Nobbs”‘ Glenn Close has donated to Democrats including Obama, the DNC, Howard Dean, Hillary Clinton and also women’s causes.
