Jeb Bush fundraising takes a hit in final quarter

Republican candidate Jeb Bush saw contributions to his campaign nearly cut in half in the final quarter of 2015, compared to the third quarter.

The former Florida governor brought in $7.12 million in the fourth quarter of 2015, a significant drop from $13.3 million in the third quarter and $11.4 in the second quarter.

Officially launched in July, Bush’s campaign raked in a total of $31.9 million in 2015. Heading into the 2016 election year, Bush has $7.58 million on hand.

Jeb continues to be encouraged and grateful for the tremendous support and enthusiasm his candidacy has generated since he launched his campaign. We are confident our campaign will have the resources needed to get Jeb’s conservative record, message and vision for the future out to voters across the country,” campaign spokeswoman Allie Brandenburger said in a statement.

“We are well positioned with more than $7 million cash on hand and have the resources needed to fund our best-in-the-field ground operation and paid voter contact efforts in the early primary states and beyond,” Brandenburger added.

The super PAC supporting Bush, Right to Rise USA, also saw diminishing funds in the latter half of 2015. It raised about $15.1 million from July to the end of December, a far cry from the $103 million the campaign raked in for the first half of the year.

Recently the super PAC unveiled a $3 million-plus television ad purchase to attack rival Marco Rubio.

Going into the Iowa caucuses on Monday, Bush is struggling in the polls, standing at a mere 4 percent in Iowa surveys according to an average by RealClearPolitics. Nationally he doesn’t fair much better, coming in at 4.8 percent.
