$1,200: How much one bottle of White House Honey Ale went for at auction, Obama Foodorama reported on Tuesday. The bottle was given to Brad Magerkurth, known to friends as “The Beer Guy,” by President Obama during an Iowa campaign stop last August. Instead of keeping it for himself, Magerkurth auctioned off the beer to support the University of Minnesota’s Amplatz Children’s Hospital. Ten people put their money together to try the beer. “The University of Minnesota marching band played ‘Hail to the Chief,’ and then we cracked open the beer,” Magerkurth told Obama Foodorama. “We all shared it on the stage.”
