Public increasingly doubtful of Obama’s ISIS strategy

A new poll indicates Americans are increasingly doubtful that the White House has a serious plan to defeat terrorism, with two-in-three people stating the president does not have a strategy.

Twenty-three percent believe President Obama has a clear plan to deal with the Islamic State, the lowest percentage recorded in the duration of the CBS News Poll.

By contrast, a record high 66 percent of people polled Nov. 19-22 said the White House does not have a specific agenda to handle the terrorist group.

Although the public does not think the president has given much thought to defeating the Islamic State, Americans have. A 63 percent majority still believe air strikes alone are not enough to wipe out Islamic State militants and said ground troops would be a necessary part of any military operation.
