The Trump Organization, the real estate development business owned by the president, responded on Monday after a photo of an advertisement featuring Ivanka Trump went viral on Twitter and seemed to falsely suggest she was still promoting her father’s developments even though she’s now a White House aide.
The photo of the ad was first shared on Sunday on Twitter by Peter Brack, who describes himself as a venture capitalist. “Assistant to [President Trump] models in an ad for [the president’s] new Tower in Manila. President of Philippines just got [White House] invite.”
The tweet was re-shared more than 17,500 times by Monday but a spokesperson for the Trump Organization told NBC News that the billboard was old and was not displayed during his father’s presidency.
“This is an old photo,” the spokesperson said. “The developer of Trump Tower in Manila has confirmed that this particular billboard was removed several years ago.”
Ivanka Trump formally joined the White House as a senior adviser to her father in March.
