Sanity isn’t the only thing Jon Stewart is helping to restore with his rally Saturday.
According to the Trust for the National Mall, “The Daily Show” host and Comedy Central have brought in beaucoup bucks to help restore the National park once the rally wraps.
Since designating the Trust for the National Mall as the Rally to Restore Sanity’s official nonprofit just a few weeks ago, the trust has raised more than $100,000 for repairing and improving the Mall.
“We are extremely grateful for the support of Jon Stewart and people across the country in helping us preserve this beautiful space for generations to come,” said Caroline Cunningham, president of the trust.
With 3,000 permitted events a year and a maintenance budget exceeding $400 million, the trust can use all the green it can get.
